Tura Public School was established in the year 1981, on 14^th March, by the Education Department, Govt. of Meghalaya under the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education. This is the only Government Public School of Garo Hills out of the five Government Public Schools of Meghalaya. This School is considered as a Special School of Meghalaya  and affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, Delhi under the Affiliation No. ME003

This School has been catering to the Educational needs of the students of the entire Garo Hills ever since its inception, and offers the ‘Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) course up to the tenth standard. This is a co-educational Government School comprising eleven classes, from Kindergarten (Kg) up to Class – X Standard. The School has an impressive history of achievement in academics, co-curricular activities, and it has polished various gems of the society.
